The Dominican sisters were instrumental in opening the newly built St. Dominic Parish School. It continues to thrive today, still under their guidance and with an emphasis on Catholic educational excellence that they have set since 1961 when this church was first established as a place for worshipers from all backgrounds who wanted only one thing: God’s word.
The school offers a strong sense of community and values of the individual student, striving to provide them with an experience that is both life-changing and empowering. This is a place where students can come together and learn about the Catholic faith as it is meant to be lived out through action that affects society for good.
School’s Academic Programs
The academic programs are gear towards individualizing instruction to meet the needs of each student. They also provide enrichment opportunities, ranging from sports and extracurricular activities to science programs that allow students a chance to explore their interests in an interactive environment. Here’s an overview of their academic programs:
Preschool
St. Dominic’s preschool program is based on the guidance of both parents and teachers to ensure that each student in their care continues to grow in a way that encourages them towards greater academic, emotional, physical, social, cultural, and spiritual development when they are ready to enter into formal education. Students receive specialized attention from highly trained individuals who know how best to guide these young minds through an engaging environment where learning can take place at any stage of life.
Kindergarten
Kindergarten at St. Dominic School is a full-day program. This allows students and teachers additional time to enrich their core curriculum, with two weeks’ early dismissal for kinder who want the option of attending an Extension Program if needed. The class currently accommodates 38 kids in one credentialed teacher’s classroom.
Grades 1 to 5
St. Dominic School is committed to providing a quality academic program that fosters critical thinking and competency in verbal and nonverbal skills, as well as character education through Christ-centered values. The school’s goal is for each student at St. Dominics to be able to grow academically by experiencing many diverse learning experiences which include being taught how they can use information from various disciplines of study effectively so it integrates better than before.
Grades 6 to 8
The Junior High program at their school is a great way for students in Grades 6-8 to get acclimated with many subjects. They have their homeroom and move from class to classroom based on the subject being taught, all under the supervision of two teacher aides who provide additional support when needed.
Enrichment
St. Dominic School provides many extracurricular activities to supplement our students’ Catholic education in keeping with their philosophy that you can’t educate the whole child if they aren’t first educated as good Catholics.
They are proud to be a school that offers education for children from preschool through grade 8. With their unique combination of traditional academics, enrichment programs, and extracurriculars, they offer an experience that is tailored just for your child’s needs.
