The City of American Canyon is located in the northern part of the Napa Valley, in the county of Napa, California. The city has a population of about 19,000 people according to the 2020 census report.
The first occupants of the area were Native Americans belonging to the Patwin tribe. Before being pushed out by Spanish settlers in the 18th century, they inhabited the area for centuries.
American Canyon was originally part of Rancho Tulucay, which was granted to Mexican citizens Juan Batista and Maria Antonia de Vallejo in 1844. The ranch changed hands several times before being bought by George C. Yount, who is considered to be the founding father of Napa Valley wine country.
In the early 20th century, the City of American Canyon was founded as a stop on the Southern Pacific Railroad. The city grew steadily throughout the mid-20th century as more and more people moved to Napa Valley.

The Napa Junction railroad station, which was built in American Canyon in the late 1800s after the area was dubbed Napa Junction, inspired the name of Junction Brewery & Grill. The railroad was used for more than just delivering products back then; it was also a meeting point for passengers heading to North Napa, Sacramento, Sonoma, or Marin.
Junction Brewery & Grill was the obvious choice for a name for the brewery and restaurant because they wanted it to be a “gathering spot for friends and family.” As a result, they have a slogan: “Junction Brewery & Grill, where friends and family gather.”
